DJ Curtis Lee was born in Newark, New Jersey, aka Brick City. Curtis Lee grew up listening to the sounds of his favorite idols, Frankie Crocker, Shep Pettibone, Ken Spider, and Tony Humphries on WBLS and 92KTU. Curtis loved to sit, listen, and record all of the classic hits from the 70's and 80's. His friends and family would just marvel at his endless collection of unmixed music tapes.

In the mid 80's Curtis relocated to Washington, DC. In 1988, he decided to take his skills to the professional ranks. Six months after purchasing his first set of turntables, he landed his first gig at the Reggae Club House on Wednesday nights, which is now called Crossroads. While meeting new people and making new friends, Curtis decided to DJ full time.

DJ Curtis Lee has worked in a variety of music industry settings such as Liaison Records and Distribution in Laurel, Maryland,"12" Inch Dance Records in Washington, DC which is now called DJ Hut, and 8 Ball Records in New York, New York. While Curtis continued his musical career he has played at numerous nightclubs in the Washington, DC/ Baltimore Area such as; The Paradox, Club 5, Red, The DC Sanctuary, Tracks, State of the Union, Home, ZEI Club and the Chamber of Sound.

During the 2004 Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida, Curtis played at the Baltimore/Washington Housing Authority Party. He received international acclaim with his performance at the Champs Elysees Nightclub in Paris, France.

Curtis has played with the likes of Deep Dish, Kerri Chandler, Jazzy Jeff, Victor Simonelli, Louie Vega, Ron Trent, Joe Clausell, Ultra Nate, Brett Dancer, DJ Oji and DJ Pope. In 2003, DJ Curtis Lee released his first single on Sanc-Soul Records titled Deep for Dance EP. His two singles on the EP are" Keep it Together" featuring Eme. And "Starz (Heaven in Your Eyes)" featuring Mustafa Akbar of Odara Productions. This is the first of a long line of what Curtis calls Ground beat.

At the present time, DJ Curtis Lee is a resident DJ at the Zucchabar in Washington, DC. Here he can be caught spinning underground soulful house and R&B classics on Thursdays from 9:00PM to 2:00AM. If hearing him once a week just isn't enough, you can hear DJ Curtis Lee on WDCE.org University of Richmond Radio, 90.1 FM; Sundays from 9:00PM to 1:00AM on "UnXpozd Radio" with resident DJ Aakmael.
